Prime Minister Keir Starmer is visiting Scotland with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to strengthen UK-Norway defence ties, highlighting a deal to build Type 26 frigates on the Clyde, which will secure thousands of jobs.
Starmer emphasized his government’s commitment to Scotland, citing the scrapping of the two-child benefit cap as a key step to support 95,000 low-income children.
He criticized political opposition, asserting progress on child poverty, job protection at Harland and Wolff, and regional growth.
Later, he met with campaigners and Scottish MPs in Glasgow to discuss his child poverty strategy, ahead of a Friday summit with devolved leaders in South Wales.
