Six Nomads gang inmates plead guilty to assaulting two inmates with weapons and hands at Shortland Correctional Centre, causing severe injuries.
Six inmates linked to the Nomads outlaw motorcycle gang have pleaded guilty to a violent assault at Cessnock’s Shortland Correctional Centre in February, where two fellow inmates were beaten and stabbed with makeshift weapons and bare hands.
The attack, captured on CCTV, began in a cell and moved to the exercise yard, resulting in serious injuries including stab wounds, broken bones, and internal trauma, with one victim hospitalized for five days.
Prosecutors dropped the most serious charges due to victim non-cooperation.
The six guilty inmates—Russel Rajapakse, Luke Caban, Brodie Dalzell, Dalton Hough, Cody Flood, and Kerim Cikar—face lesser charges, with sentencing set for January and February.
Cikar was already jailed for two years and five months.
The seventh suspect, Rafael Piliae, who has no gang ties, remains at large, with a warrant issued for his arrest.
All involved inmates were moved to segregated or higher-security facilities.
