Oxford man on hunger strike after arrest in 2024 RAF protest linked to Gaza conflict.
Amu Gib, 30, an Oxford resident accused of participating in a June 2024 break-in at RAF Brize Norton during a pro-Palestine protest, has been on a hunger strike for over five weeks while imprisoned.
The incident, claimed by Palestine Action, involved spray-painting red paint on two Voyager aircraft to protest UK military support for Israel in the Gaza conflict.
Five individuals, including Gib, were charged with conspiracy to commit criminal damage and entering a prohibited place for national security reasons.
They remain at HMP Bronzefield awaiting trial in January 2027.
Palestine Action was designated a terrorist organization after the break-in, leading to over 2,000 arrests for supporting it.
The UK now criminalizes support for the group, with penalties up to 14 years in prison.
The group is challenging the ban in a pending High Court judicial review.
The Gaza conflict, which began after the October 7 Hamas attack, has resulted in over 70,000 Palestinian deaths, with continued Israeli airstrikes despite a ceasefire.
