Montana ethics official dismisses complaint against commissioner Bukacek over alleged resource misuse.
Montana’s Commissioner of Political Practices, Chris Gallus, has dismissed an ethics complaint by PSC member Brad Molnar against commissioner Annie Bukacek, finding insufficient evidence she misused public resources.
Molnar alleged Bukacek, a Kalispell physician, used the PSC copy room for personal medical work and discarded documents in office trash.
Gallus deemed the claims speculative, citing Bukacek’s explanation that she brought recyclables due to her office’s lack of service.
He found no proof she copied patient records or gained financial benefit, noting the conduct, while possibly inconvenient, did not violate ethics rules.
Bukacek called the complaint retaliatory after her role in removing Molnar as president.
Molnar, under investigation for unprofessional conduct, expressed disappointment.
The decision comes amid ongoing tensions at the PSC, including a call for Molnar’s suspension.
