India and Cambodia link UPI and KHQR for cross-border QR payments by late 2026.
NPCI International Payments Limited and Cambodia’s ACLEDA Bank have signed an agreement to link India’s UPI and Cambodia’s KHQR payment systems, enabling cross-border QR code payments starting in late 2026.
Indian travelers will use UPI apps at over 4.5 million KHQR-enabled merchant locations in Cambodia, while Cambodian visitors in India can pay via local apps using more than 709 million UPI QR codes.
The integration, supported by the National Bank of Cambodia and following a 2023 MOU, aims to boost tourism, financial inclusion, and regional digital economic cooperation.
The initiative aligns with ASEAN’s digital finance goals and expands UPI’s global reach, with additional banks expected to join the network.
