A former Missouri cop pleaded guilty to illegally searching women’s phones during traffic stops in 2024.
Julian Alcala, a 30-year-old former Florissant, Missouri police officer, has pleaded guilty to 20 counts of unlawfully searching women’s phones during traffic stops in early 2024.
He admitted to seizing phones under false pretenses, such as verifying insurance, then accessing and copying nude photos and videos without consent.
The misconduct was uncovered when a victim found a private video sent to an unknown number, prompting an FBI investigation that uncovered additional evidence.
Alcala, who remains free on bond, faces up to a year in prison at his sentencing on March 11, 2025, and prosecutors dropped a separate obstruction charge as part of the plea deal.
