Chanel’s new creative director debuted his first Métiers d’Art collection in New York, honoring subway culture and Coco Chanel’s legacy.
Chanel’s new creative director Matthieu Blazy debuted his first Métiers d’Art collection in New York with a runway show at the decommissioned Bowery subway station on December 2, 2025.
The event, held in two parts, featured celebrities including A$AP Rocky, Kristen Stewart, and Tilda Swinton, who entered through a discreet entrance and descended to an authentic platform with tiled walls, turnstiles, and bleacher seating.
Models emerged from an actual arriving train, embodying everyday New Yorkers across generations and styles.
Blazy’s collection, inspired by the city’s subway culture and Coco Chanel’s 1931 visit, highlighted craftsmanship through layered looks blending tweed, capes, and bold patterns, with personal touches like “I (Heart) NY” tees.
The show, complete with a custom newspaper and the “Happy Days” theme, emphasized authenticity, urban connection, and the inclusive spirit of city life.
