Bud Crawford stripped of WBC super middleweight title for unpaid $300K sanctioning fees.
Terence "Bud" Crawford has been stripped of his WBC super middleweight title for failing to pay sanctioning fees from his last two fights, including his September bout against Canelo Alvarez.
The WBC said it made multiple attempts to contact Crawford, his manager, and legal counsel but received no response, leading to the decision after the organization claimed it had no alternative.
The unpaid fee, $300,000 at 0.6%, was meant for the José Sulaimán Boxers Fund.
Crawford, who became undisputed champion in September, now holds three of four major belts in the division.
The vacant title will be contested between interim champion Christian Mbilli and top contender Hamzah Sheeraz, with Lester Martinez set to face the winner.
