U.S. authorities have seized the domain tickmilleas.com, part of a large-scale cryptocurrency fraud scheme based in Myanmar’s Tai Chang compound, linked to sanctioned groups tied to Chinese organized crime.
The site, posing as a legitimate investment platform, targeted Americans through fake relationships on social media, promising high returns and using falsified account activity to lure victims into depositing money via malicious apps.
The FBI, working with Google, Apple, and Meta, removed related apps and over 2,000 social media accounts.
The operation, part of the Scam Center Strike Force, disrupted a “pig butchering” scam network that caused an estimated $90 million in losses to more than 400 San Diegans in 2024, with total U.S. losses from such scams nearing $6 billion in 2024.
