UNT Dallas opens $100M STEM facility to boost healthcare training and address nurse shortage.
The University of North Texas at Dallas opened its new $100 million STEM facility on December 2, 2025, the largest expansion in the school’s history.
The 120,220-square-foot building, set to host students in Spring 2026, features 18 classrooms, 12 labs, collaborative spaces, and a pre-health program offering guaranteed medical school admission.
Designed to address Texas’s projected shortage of over 57,000 registered nurses by 2032, the facility supports accelerated training in nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, and other health fields through partnerships with UNT Health Fort Worth and the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Built in two years by Vaughn Construction, the energy-efficient, naturally lit building reflects the university’s commitment to first-generation and underserved students, enhancing regional healthcare workforce development.
