UK to review compensation for women affected by pension age changes by Feb 24, 2026.
The UK government has agreed to reconsider compensation for WASPI women, who were affected by changes to the state pension age, within 12 weeks, leading to the cancellation of a planned judicial review hearing.
The government committed to reviewing the case by February 24, 2026, and will cover more than half of the campaigners’ legal costs.
This follows a 2024 ombudsman report recommending individual payments of £1,000 to £2,950, citing inadequate communication that led women to make financial plans based on outdated information.
Although the government previously rejected a £10.5 billion compensation scheme, it acknowledged past failures and apologized.
Campaigners welcomed the reconsideration but warned they may return to court if justice is not delivered.
