A suppression order on Greg Lynn’s 1999 history with his first wife, Lisa, has been lifted, revealing her death and his prior abuse, but the jury in his 2024 murder trial was not told.
A decades-old suppression order blocking details of Greg Lynn’s past police interactions has been lifted, revealing his 1999 history with his first wife, Lisa Lynn, who died under unclear circumstances after consuming drugs and alcohol; no charges were filed. Lisa had obtained an intervention order against Lynn, which he breached twice by visiting her home and making threatening calls. He was charged with breach and escaping police, pleaded guilty, and received a good behaviour bond without a conviction. In 2024, prosecutors sought to introduce testimony from Lisa’s parents claiming she lived in fear of Lynn and had documented abuse, but the defense called the evidence hearsay. The jury in Lynn’s 2024 trial was not informed of this history. He was convicted of murdering camper Carol Clay but acquitted of Russell Hill’s death. Lynn is appealing his 32-year sentence in the Victorian Court of Appeal, with a decision pending.
