Starting Jan. 1, 2026, eligible disabled veterans in Nebraska can get a vehicle tax and fee exemption.
Starting January 1, 2026, disabled veterans in Nebraska will qualify for a motor vehicle tax and fee exemption on one personally used vehicle under LB650, signed into law in 2025.
Veterans must register or update their status through the Nebraska Department of Veterans’ Affairs Military & Veterans’ Registry and request the exemption during vehicle registration or renewal, either in person or online, within 30 days of purchase or before the registration expires.
Approval may take up to 48 hours to reflect in the DMV system, so early application is advised.
