Sarnia’s city council has approved $100,000 in accommodation tax funds to beautify the downtown waterfront, with plans to install string lights, branded banners, artist-designed vinyl wraps on public fixtures, and enhanced greenery.
The Downtown Collective, representing over 60 local businesses, will collaborate with city staff, seek local artists, and contribute volunteer efforts to keep costs low.
Work could begin in summer 2026 after procurement and utility coordination, pending final budget approval by December 20.
Future upgrades like improved parking signage and lighting between downtown and Mitton Village are being considered.
