He will take over after the current season, during which the Mean Green (11–1) are set to play Tulane in the American Athletic Conference championship, aiming for their first College Football Playoff berth.
Brown, who previously served as a special assistant at Texas, emphasizes building a player-driven program aligned with North Texas’ vision and community.
His five-year contract was announced by athletics director Jared Mosley, who previously worked with Brown at West Virginia.
