A Melbourne teacher denied bail after allegedly stabbing his principal over contract denial.
A 37-year-old Melbourne teacher, Kim Ramchen, has been denied bail after allegedly stabbing his school principal, Aaron Sykes, following news his contract would not be renewed.
Ramchen, who armed himself with knives from the school kitchen, attacked Sykes, causing a lip cut and arm wound, then returned with a larger knife before being subdued by staff.
Police said he admitted planning to "completely incapacitate" the principal, and a magistrate ruled he posed an "extreme" risk of reoffending.
Ramchen, whose mother disappeared in 1992, faces five charges including assault with a weapon.
His defense cited mental health concerns and a high academic background, but bail was denied.
He remains in custody and is due back in court on January 6.
