Indonesian man returned to Singapore for murder probe in wife's death; confessed, faces possible execution.
A 41-year-old Indonesian man, Salehuddin, was returned to a Singapore Chinatown hotel on December 3, 2025, as part of a murder investigation into the death of his wife, 38-year-old Nurdia Rahmah Rery, who was found dead in a seventh-floor room.
He was questioned for two hours after arriving restrained and accompanied by investigators, an interpreter, and an independent volunteer.
Salehuddin had surrendered on October 24, confessing to killing his wife between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. that day.
Charged with murder, he requested prosecution in Indonesia, which was denied, and was remanded for a three-week psychiatric assessment.
The couple had recently relocated from Brunei without their children, and Nurdia’s family reported no known marital issues.
