India expands rural cooperatives with digital services, boosting financial inclusion and agricultural support.
India is expanding its cooperative network, with over 51,000 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) now offering digital services through Common Service Centers, enhancing rural access to banking, health, and government services.
Under a national computerization project, 60,424 PACS are using a centralized ERP system, supported by ₹2,925 crore, while 30,083 new cooperatives were registered by November 2025.
Three new multi-state cooperatives—BBSSL, NCOL, and NCEL—are operational, boosting seed production, organic farming, and agricultural exports.
Over 174,000 farmers joined PACS in 2023 and 2025, receiving ₹13,830 crore in loans, and 223,000 farmers now have accounts in cooperative banks, improving financial inclusion.
