Brian Kemp is in Panama with a state delegation to strengthen trade ties and highlight the importance of the Panama Canal for Georgia’s ports in Savannah and Brunswick.
The trip, funded by the state, includes officials from the Georgia Ports Authority and Department of Economic Development, along with First Lady Marty Kemp.
While Savannah saw a monthly drop in cargo volume in October, its annual volume rose, and Brunswick saw growth in auto and equipment shipments despite a year-to-date decline.
The mission underscores Georgia’s efforts to boost global trade, attract investment, and maintain its competitive edge, supporting over 650,000 jobs and $198.7 billion in annual trade.
