Canada orders testing of Iranian pistachios imported before Sept. 27 over Salmonella outbreak, with 155 cases reported.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has mandated testing of all Iranian pistachios imported before September 27, 2025, due to a Salmonella outbreak linked to contaminated products.
As of December 1, 155 lab-confirmed cases have been reported across Canada, with 24 hospitalizations and 133 product recalls.
Federally licensed importers and manufacturers must now hold and test pre-ban pistachios and related products before sale.
The CFIA will enforce compliance through inspections, with penalties including fines or license suspension.
The measures remain in effect until the ongoing investigation concludes.
