Three Nebraska utilities and Oklahoma’s Grand River Dam Authority have formed the Great Plains New Nuclear Consortium to study deploying 1,000 to 2,000 megawatts of advanced nuclear power, including small modular reactors, in Nebraska.
The group, led by NPPD, is conducting feasibility studies, site evaluations, and technology assessments with no construction or investment decisions yet.
The effort, backed by state funding and focused on low-carbon energy and grid reliability, builds on regional cooperation and will share updates via a new website.
