Nigeria’s defence minister resigns, citing health issues; Gen. Christopher Musa to replace him.

Nigeria’s Defence Minister Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has resigned effective December 1, 2025, citing health reasons. President Bola Tinubu accepted the resignation and thanked him for his service, particularly during a national security emergency. Abubakar, a former two-term governor of Jigawa State, had served as defence minister since August 21, 2023. Former Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa is set to replace him, with the president expected to nominate him to the Senate later in the week.
