A man was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months for pushing a former soldier, who died from injuries after a pub argument over chicken wings.
Paul Ainscough, a 57-year-old former British Army sergeant major and police officer, died from internal injuries two days after being pushed during a drunken argument over chicken wings at a pub in Leyland, Lancashire, on June 22, 2024.
Witnesses said his friend, Liam Slack, 34, grabbed Ainscough’s food, threw his rucksack, and pushed him into a stone step, causing fatal injuries.
Ainscough, described as kind and generous, had expressed distress over the incident in text messages found on his phone.
Slack admitted to manslaughter and was sentenced to four years and two months in prison.
