India’s ED seizes 19 Goa properties worth ₹1,268 crore in land scam linked to forged documents and fraud.
The Enforcement Directorate has attached 19 high-value properties in North Goa, worth ₹1,268.6 crore, under the PMLA amid an investigation into a land scam involving forged documents and fraudulent land acquisitions.
The properties, in Anjuna, Assagao, and Ucassaim, were seized following a probe into a scheme allegedly led by Shivshankar Mayekar and Yeshwant Sawant, who used fake allotment certificates, sale deeds, and gift documents to illegally obtain land in associates' names.
The case stems from a police FIR over fraud against the Anjuna comunidade, with additional FIRs filed in Anjuna and Assagao.
Mayekar was arrested in October and remains in custody.
The ED is sharing information with other agencies and continues to investigate more suspected fraudulent land transactions.
