India urges global tax cooperation on digitalization, crypto, and ownership transparency at New Delhi forum.
At the 18th Global Forum Plenary meeting in New Delhi, India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Revenue Secretary Arvind Shrivastava called for strengthened global cooperation to address tax challenges posed by digitalization, crypto assets, and complex ownership structures.
They stressed the need for secure, timely information exchange, robust cybersecurity, and confidentiality, highlighting India’s successful automatic exchange of tax data since 2017 and its use of data analytics to boost compliance.
The Global Forum, with 170 member jurisdictions, continues to promote transparency and peer review, with India supporting deeper beneficial ownership transparency and sustainable development goals.
