The 2026 Giro d’Italia will start in Bulgaria for the third consecutive year, with stages in Nessebar, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv, and Sofia before entering Italy.
The 21-stage race spans 3,458 km with 50,000 meters of elevation, featuring a grueling Queen Stage in the Dolomites with a summit finish at Alleghe.
The penultimate stage includes two climbs to Piancavallo, leading to a final sprint in Rome.
The women’s Giro begins May 30 in Cesenatico and ends June 7 in Saluzzo.
This will be Mauro Vegni’s final route design.
