Swiss tourist Patrick Keusch pleaded guilty to causing a fatal crash in New Zealand that killed Glenda Douglas on Nov. 19, 2025.
Swiss tourist Patrick Keusch, 32, pleaded guilty to careless driving causing death in a fatal crash on State Highway 73, Canterbury, on November 19, 2025, which killed 68-year-old Glenda Douglas.
He will remain in New Zealand until sentencing on January 16, 2026, after a court deferred the date to allow for restorative justice efforts.
Keusch, who had no income in New Zealand and was tearful during the hearing, surrendered his passport and was banned from driving.
Police and the court emphasized the need for victims’ families to process the tragedy, opposing a rushed resolution.
Douglas’s funeral was held on November 26.
