Pakistan’s Senate advanced journalist protection bill to joint session after Assembly delay; court set Dec. 3 hearing in Arshad Sharif case.
On November 25, 2025, Pakistan’s Senate referred the Journalists and Media Professionals Protection Bill to a joint parliamentary session after the National Assembly failed to act within the 90-day deadline.

The Commission for the Protection of Journalists and Media Professionals held its inaugural meeting, establishing procedures for handling complaints and planning training, welfare, and digital systems.
Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar proposed a Digital Media Association to combat misinformation, promote accountability, and support responsible online content.
The Federal Constitutional Court also scheduled a December 3 hearing in the Arshad Sharif murder case.
