Odisha swimmer Pratyasa Ray, despite early health issues and a 2024 injury, won national medals and aims for the 2026 Asian Games while pursuing two postgraduate degrees.
Pratyasa Ray, a 23-year-old swimmer from Odisha, overcame early health struggles from antibiotic reactions by starting swimming at age three as therapy, which dramatically improved her condition.
Now a top national athlete, she has won 18 medals across four Khelo India University Games, including nine gold, and earned the Eklavya Award.
After a 2024 shoulder injury sidelined her from backstroke, she adapted to freestyle and longer events, winning gold in the relay and silver in the 100m backstroke at the Senior Nationals.
Fully recovered, she aims to qualify for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya while balancing a double postgraduate degree at Utkal University.
