A Melbourne man denies raping a woman at his home in January 2024, claiming he didn’t enter her room or assault her.
A man from a prominent Melbourne family has denied raping a woman during a trial at Victoria’s County Court, where he testified under oath after pleading not guilty to two counts of rape.
Prosecutors allege the incident occurred on January 14, 2024, at his home, claiming he lied about the victim’s boyfriend returning, then entered her dark bedroom pretending to be him and digitally raped her while she was asleep or unconscious.
The woman reportedly resisted, identified him by touch due to his longer hair, and later confronted him.
The man denied ever entering the room or assaulting her.
He admitted altering an Uber receipt to suggest the boyfriend left after 2:30 a.m., but said the change was not meant to conceal criminal conduct.
The trial, presided over by Judge Gregory Lyon, continues.
