Columbiana County commissioners approved a new three-year contract for highway and engineering employees, effective Jan. 1, 2026, featuring annual wage increases tied to the cost of living, updated pay scales, and clarified job duties.
The contract replaces one set to expire Dec. 31, 2025.
Commissioners also authorized 2026 bids for fuel and construction materials, reappointed Nicholas Amato to the Port Authority Board, and allocated $2.02 million for a records building project.
The downtown courthouse and Municipal Court building will close Dec. 26.
Commissioners congratulated newly elected Madison Township Trustee Duane Nickell and approved one-year contracts for senior services totaling over $305,000.
The Department of Job and Family Services reported on services for seniors over 60, including home assessments and modifications, and noted the termination of a contract and a social worker for performance issues.
The next meeting is Dec. 3 at 9 a.m.
