Brunei’s Sultan visited Vietnam, boosting ties and trade amid regional cooperation pledges.
On November 30, 2025, Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah began a three-day state visit to Vietnam, marking his seventh trip to the country and first since 2019.
In Hanoi, he met with Party General Secretary Tô Lâm, reaffirming the Vietnam-Brunei Comprehensive Partnership and highlighting a 165% trade increase in 2024, surpassing the $500 million target.
Both leaders pledged to expand cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, fisheries, Halal products, tourism, education, and maritime security, including joint efforts against illegal fishing and climate change.
They supported ASEAN centrality and multilateral cooperation, with the Sultan inviting Tô Lâm to visit Brunei, which was accepted.
The visit underscores deepening bilateral ties and regional collaboration.
