Amazon and Google launch joint service for fast, private cloud connections to boost reliability post-AWS outage.
Amazon and Google have launched a joint multicloud networking service enabling customers to establish private, high-speed connections between AWS and Google Cloud in minutes instead of weeks. The service combines AWS Interconnect-multicloud with Google Cloud’s Cross-Cloud Interconnect to improve interoperability, support seamless data and application movement, and enhance reliability amid rising demand driven by AI and internet growth. The move follows a major AWS outage in October 2025 that disrupted major platforms and cost U.S. businesses an estimated $500 million to $650 million. Early adopters include Salesforce. The collaboration marks a significant shift toward more resilient, integrated cloud infrastructure.
