An 88-year-old man was arrested in Welland on sexual assault charges after an incident Thursday.

An 88-year-old Port Colborne man has been arrested and charged with sexual assault following an incident Thursday afternoon in Welland’s King and Division streets area. Niagara Regional Police responded around 4 p.m., and detectives took over the investigation. The suspect, described as driving a white Kia Sorrento, was taken into custody Friday and remains in jail. He is scheduled for a bail hearing Saturday at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
