A woman was jailed for 16 weeks after being caught naked and engaging in sexual activity in public, with a broken bottle in her bra.

Rachel Hardy-Gent, 43, was sentenced to 16 weeks in jail after pleading guilty to outraging public decency, possessing an offensive weapon, and breaching a suspended sentence. The incident occurred in broad daylight outside Park View Shopping Centre in Whitley Bay, where she was seen naked from the waist down with her chest exposed, engaging in sexual activity in full view of the public. A delivery driver reported the scene, leading to her arrest. Police found a broken wine bottle neck in her bra, classified as an offensive weapon. Hardy-Gent, who has a history of 58 prior offences, reportedly sought incarceration due to severe alcohol misuse and trauma. The court heard she was heavily intoxicated and had no memory of the event. The man involved was not charged.
