Vinay Kumar, a three-term MLA from Renukaji and former Deputy Speaker, has been appointed President of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee, ending over a year without formal leadership. The appointment, confirmed after the committee’s dissolution in November 2024, follows consultations with senior leaders and the AICC. Kumar, 47, a member of the Scheduled Caste Koli community, pledged to rebuild the party’s grassroots structure, unite workers, and prepare for the 2027 state elections. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri welcomed the move, noting efforts to appoint younger leaders under 60 and strengthen party-government coordination.
