Spanish golfer David Puig won the Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland, finishing two shots ahead of China’s Wenyi Ding, who also shot a 66 in the final round.
The 23-year-old LIV Golf player, who left Arizona State University to turn pro, claimed his first DP World Tour title and only the second for a Spanish player in the tournament’s history, joining Seve Ballesteros.
Puig, who had just two bogeys all week and none on Sunday, built a lead with early birdies and held off a late charge from Ding.
Australians Marc Leishman and Min Woo Lee were in contention but fell back after missing key putts.
New Zealander Nick Voke and former world No.
1 Adam Scott tied for third and seventh, respectively.
The win earns Puig $450,000 and marks a key event ahead of the 2025-26 DP World Tour season.
