Six Delhi protesters linked to Naxalite movement face extended custody over pepper spray incident at India Gate.
Delhi police told a New Delhi court that some of six protesters arrested for using pepper spray at India Gate had attended a banned Radical Students Union conference in Hyderabad, citing video and social media evidence linking them to the Naxalite movement.
They argued against bail, claiming risks of witness tampering and the need for further investigation into possible conspiracy and support for slain Maoist leader Madvi Hidma.
The court sent eight protesters to judicial custody for two days, with a bail hearing adjourned to Monday.
The case stems from two FIRs, resulting in 23 arrests, with 15 of 17 initially arrested at Parliament Street re-arrested in connection with the Kartavya Path case.
