An Irish man in his 30s denied bail after being charged with sexually exploiting and blackmailing a 12-year-old girl in Poland.
An Irish man in his 30s from Longford has been denied bail after being charged with sexually exploiting and blackmailing a 12-year-old girl in Poland.
Arrested by the Garda National Protective Services Unit, he faces multiple charges including sexual exploitation of a child, possession of child pornography, and organizing a child for abuse material production between 2022 and 2023.
Authorities seized multiple phones containing thousands of images and videos of child abuse, including the victim’s passport photo confirming her age.
The court heard he used fake social media identities to contact the girl, coerce her into sending nude images, and threaten to share them online, while also controlling her Snapchat account and discussing selling her images.
Prosecutors cited strong evidence and the risk of reoffending, leading Judge Derek Cooney to remand him in custody.
The man has not entered a plea, and legal aid has been granted.
The case continues with directions pending from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
