India is reviewing a new fence design for its border with Bangladesh in Tripura due to damaged aging barriers.
On November 30, 2025, India’s BSF Tripura Frontier Inspector General Aloke Kumar Chakraborty said the central government is reviewing a new barbed wire fencing design for the India-Bangladesh border, particularly in Tripura where aging fencing has deteriorated due to heavy rains.
The proposal aims to improve border security along the 856-km stretch in Tripura, part of the 4,096-km border.
While no details on the new design were released, the Ministry of Home Affairs is evaluating the plan.
