Fifteen-year-old Divyanshi Bhowmick won a bronze medal in the U-15 girls' singles at the 2025 ITTF World Youth Championships in Romania, becoming only the second Indian to medal in that category.
She reached the semifinals with wins over players from Algeria, South Korea, and Japan before losing to China’s Zhu Qihui.
The Kolkata-based player also helped India’s U-15 girls’ team earn bronze and contributed to the U-19 boys’ team winning silver—the first Indian podium in that category.
Her success follows her historic win at the Asian Youth Championships, making her the first Indian in 36 years to claim that title.
