D.C. enacts temporary juvenile curfews in two areas to curb youth gatherings amid safety concerns.
The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department has activated temporary juvenile curfew zones in the Navy Yard and U Street Corridor from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, November 29–30, 2025, under emergency authority granted by the Juvenile Curfew Second Emergency Amendment Act of 2025.
The measure prohibits individuals under 18 from gathering in groups of nine or more in public spaces unless engaged in exempted activities, aiming to prevent public safety risks linked to large youth gatherings.
This follows a chaotic Halloween night and ongoing concerns over youth-related disturbances, with the citywide curfew from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. still in effect.
The emergency zones may be extended or made permanent based on ongoing review.
