Twenty-four Bangladeshi nationals jailed in the UAE over July’s uprising are set for release following diplomatic efforts.
On November 28, 2025, Dr. Asif Nazrul announced that 24 Bangladeshi nationals imprisoned in the UAE will soon be released.
The individuals were detained for involvement in the July uprising in the UAE.
The release follows diplomatic efforts led by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and support from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the UAE embassy.
This follows the earlier release of 188 Bangladeshi nationals in September 2024, also at the Chief Adviser’s request.
