RSS chief says India’s nationhood is based on unity and tradition, not Western nationalism.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said on November 29, 2025, at the Nagpur Book Festival that India’s traditional concept of 'rashtra'—nationhood—differs from Western nationalism, emphasizing unity, fraternity, and cultural continuity over exclusion or national ego.
He stated the RSS does not identify as a nationalist organization, arguing that India’s identity is rooted in ancient, organic principles like collective harmony and 'vasudhaiva kutumbakam'—the world as one family—rather than modern political constructs.
Bhagwat criticized the use of Western terms like 'nationalism' as misleading, linking them to global conflicts, and stressed that India’s tradition values wisdom, service, and coexistence.
The festival, running from November 22 to 30, features over 300 stalls promoting literature and learning.
El jefe del RSS dice que la nacionalidad de la India está basada en la unidad y la tradición, no en el nacionalismo occidental.
