The Ontario Provincial Police launched its 2025 Festive RIDE campaign on November 20, targeting impaired driving during the holiday season.
In the first week, 1,804 RIDE checks were conducted province-wide, resulting in 229 impaired driving charges and 23 warn-range licence suspensions.
In the West Region, 534 checks led to 53 charges and eight suspensions.
While no drivers were found over the legal blood alcohol limit in the Upper Ottawa Valley, two were charged with impaired driving— one for alcohol and another for cannabis.
The campaign, running through January 1, 2026, includes enforcement and public education to improve road safety.
