A man was arrested in Paris in connection with the October 2025 Louvre heist of France’s crown jewels, which remains unsolved.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested in Paris and is believed to be the fourth member of a gang that stole France’s crown jewels from the Louvre Museum on October 19, 2025.
The heist, carried out in under eight minutes using angle grinders, a freight lift, and disguises, targeted historically significant items including a necklace given by Napoleon to Empress Marie-Louise and Empress Eugénie’s pearl-and-diamond tiara.
Three other suspects were previously arrested, and a woman linked to one suspect faces complicity charges but denies involvement.
The emerald-set imperial crown of Empress Eugénie was found discarded outside the museum.
The stolen jewels remain unrecovered, and the Louvre has acknowledged a “terrible failure” in security, pledging to install new surveillance and anti-intrusion systems.
