Danny Francis sentenced to 7 years for drink-driving crash that killed teen Benjamin Worrall in 2023.
Danny Francis, 29, was sentenced to seven years in prison and banned from driving for 11 years after pleading guilty to causing the death of 17-year-old Benjamin Worrall in a drink-driving crash on October 1, 2023, on the A458 near Shrewsbury.
Francis, who had consumed 11 pints of cider and a shot of liquor, lost control of his Range Rover while navigating a puddle, veering into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with two motorcycles.
Worrall died at the scene; his friend Nathan Fountain survived but suffered life-changing injuries, including the amputation of his left leg.
Francis fled the scene, was arrested nearly seven hours later, and was found to have a breath-alcohol level far above the legal limit.
The sentencing occurred at Shrewsbury Crown Court on November 28, 2025.
Worrall’s family urged the public not to drink and drive, emphasizing the irreversible consequences.
