Cape Fear residents urged to prepare for freezing temps that could damage pipes.
The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority urges residents to prepare for freezing temperatures with overnight lows in the 20s expected Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28–29, as the National Weather Service issues freezing weather alerts.
To prevent pipe damage, CFPUA recommends draining outdoor faucets, wrapping exposed pipes, letting faucets drip, and opening cabinet doors to circulate warm air.
Irrigation systems and backflow preventers should be drained, valves closed, and assemblies covered with fiberglass insulation.
Residents are reminded to restore systems in the spring.
