Canada has launched a public AI registry listing over 400 artificial intelligence projects across 43 federal departments and agencies, detailing each system’s purpose, use, and development source.
Introduced on November 28, 2025, by Treasury Board President Shafqat Ali, the registry aims to improve coordination, reduce duplication, and enhance transparency in government AI use.
It supports Prime Minister Mark Carney’s push to integrate AI into public services and aligns with a federal budget allocating over $1 billion to AI and quantum computing, including a new Office of Digital Transformation and a made-in-Canada AI tool.
Public consultations are planned for 2026 to refine the registry’s design and usability.
