Philippines seeks Malaysia and Singapore’s help to find assets linked to fugitive lawmaker Zaldy Co amid corruption scandal.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has urged Malaysia and Singapore to help locate aircraft and helicopters linked to fugitive former lawmaker Zaldy Co, whose assets are frozen amid a corruption scandal involving billions in missing flood-control funds.
Marcos said Co’s $26 million Gulfstream G350 jet and two helicopters may be in the two countries, and ordered agencies to cooperate with foreign counterparts to recover the assets.
Co, accused of orchestrating kickbacks, has fled the Philippines and made allegations against Marcos and his cousin, which the president denies.
The government has canceled Co’s passport, and Marcos vowed to arrest those responsible for the alleged theft by Christmas amid growing public outrage over corruption.
